News: No Tour Of The South?
Found this in an article about the Euro tour announcement:
"This is a great announcement for people in Europe looking to jam with the crooning, riff-happy rockers. It’s not so wonderful, however, for fans that were looking forward to seeing them perform at this summer’s Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn., as previously reported. In short, that idea has been scrapped in favor of a European vacation.
Also, if you’re a fellow North American waiting anxiously for the band to come to your neck of the woods, don’t hold your breath. "Historically, there have been five years or so between our visits to Europe, so it's a treat to go back again so soon," says band manager Kelly Curtis, after stating that the band has no other tours scheduled for 2007."

Bootleg: 1995-11-01 Delta Center, Salt Lake City, UT
Show Info:
1995 Vitalogy Tour Show
Attendance: 9,000
Support Act: The Fastbacks
Main Set:
Go, Animal, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Not for You, Lukin, Improv, Elderly Woman, Deep, Dissident, Daughter/(Pulled Up), Even Flow, Rearviewmirror, I Got Shit, Whipping, Immortality, Alive, Black, Blood
Encore:
Red Mosquito, Better Man, Leaving Here, Footsteps, Porch
Show Notes: True to their word, PJ returned to Salt Lake City after the previous rain-out and played "twice as long," playing two shows.
Being the night after Halloween, the band hits the stage wearing costumes, Ed's being a very large alien head and alien gloves with long fingers. They proceed to toss items into the crowd (the band claiming it's candy corn and cigarettes).
Ed comments after 'Tremor Christ:' "I believe we've met before. We're gonna make good on our promise." There's a very sweet improv played before 'Elderly Woman.'
Ed's introduces 'Even Flow' as a song they "... learned off an old '50s jukebox." 'Red Mosquito' is a new song. 'Leaving Here' has an interesting intro. Monkeywrench Radio broadcast this show.

"To all my fellow Pearl Jam fans,
For years now I have loved Pearl Jam. My husband (PJ-Sin) goes absolutely insane over them. Unfortunately, in previous years we have become crazy about something else too. In 2003, my late husband Patrick and I took our three year old daughter to her first concert. She loved it. Looking back at the pictures now I can see the small cyst that later that year in September was diagnosed as cancer. As if this wasn't bad enough, one month later my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer.
Our life became one big hospital visit with both of them undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Mackenzie was able to struggle through in and in December of 2004 she was pronounced to be in remission with little chance of recurrence. Her father was not so lucky, He lost his battle after eight months.
Mackenzie and I have gone through the last few years relying heavily on friends and family and were lucky enough to find a man that loved us both. He actually encouraged me to post on this site because he believes so much in Pearl Jam fans. Imagine my surprise though when I woke her up for school in August and saw an enormous lump on her thigh. I knew right away what it was and as it turned out I was right. Her cancer had returned worse than before and much larger.
I always promised that if she lost her hair again I would set aside my own vanity and shave mine as well. I am going to get my chance this March 3rd when I will be participating in an event called St. Baldricks. It is a national organization that's motto is "Be Brave and Shave"
How it works is people like myself sign up to become "shavee's". Then we get people to sponsor us to shave our heads. All the money goes to help find a cure for childhood cancer. This is a very important event. Mackenzie is receiving treatment at a hospital that is part of the Children's Oncology Group along with St. Judes and others. These are considered research hospitals and the funds raised will help immensely. You are able to find out more about this event at www.stbaldricks.org.
You can donate on line, by phone, or send directly to me. The web site is very easy to navigate. When you get on you are able to search by shavee. My name is Shana Abrams and my shavee number is 15339253. Or you can look at the children honored. My daughters name is Mackenzie Woelbling.
The event we are participating in is being held at Helen Fitzgeralds in Missouri on March 3rd 2007. Please at least take the time to look. The site is filled with so many facts and you will be able to see exactly where your money is going.
Seeing as there is a contest between participants to see who can raise money I ask that when you donate please list my name as the shavee. That way I will get credit for raising funds. also, if you wish you are able to contact me at shanadw@hotmail.com and I can send you a packet of information as well as my daughters pictures.
Too many children are dying from cancers we don't have cures for. You are able to help.

Show Info:
1995 Vitalogy Tour Show
Support Act: The Ramones
Main Set:
Animal, Go, Last Exit, Tremor Christ, Even Flow, Corduroy, Small Town, Whipping, Not for You, Why Go?, Deep, Jeremy, Dissident, Daughter/(I Believe in Miracles)/(Pulled Up), Rats, Voodoo Chile, Immortality, Rearviewmirror, Alive, Blood
Encore:
Betterman, Sonic Reducer, Rockin' in the Free World
Encore 2:
Yellow Ledbetter
Show Notes: Ed stops the show during 'Tremor Christ' when someone is down in the pit. He says they can't start again until the person is helped. After the fan has been tended to, the band picks up the song exactly where they left off. Eddie adds lines from the Ramones' 'I Believe in Miracles' to 'Daughter,' followed by the Talking Heads' 'Pulled Up.'
Ed leaves the stage after 'Rats'. Stone says, "We're just gonna jam for a bit," and the band does a 'Voodoo Chile' jam, with Mike filling in on vocals. Brendan O'Brien sits in on organ for 'Better Man.'
'Sonic Reducer' with Joey Ramone is the show stopper and is later released on one of the '95 fan club discs. During 'Sonic Reducer,' Ed pokes fun at his and Joey's difference in height. :) The whole band is in a great mood and having a blast.
'Spin The Black Circle,' 'Habit' and 'I Got Shit' are on the setlist but not played.

Show Notes: At some point during The Ramones' set someone comes out, jumping around in a dress and a mask with a "Gabba Gabba Hey" sign. Okay, Ed - nice try on the disguise.
At the start of PJ's set, Ed takes the stage grinning and wearing a heavy jacket on this terribly hot day. Immediately after 'Act of Love,' the jacket is gone.
The show is paused briefly after 'Last Exit' to "get everybody up" and everyone is encouraged to "take two steps back."
A surprise song, R.E.M.'s 'Talk About the Passion,' is played during the first encore.

Act of Love, Go, Last Exit, Long Road (Tease), Animal, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Jeremy (New, Tease), Lukin, Not for You, Elderly Woman, Why Go, Even Flow, Dissident, Daughter/(Improv)/(W.M.A), State of Love and Trust, Rearviewmirror, I Got Shit, Immortality, Black, Spin the Black Circle, Alive
Encore:
Once, Sonic Reducer, Leaving Here, Better Man, Talk About the Passion, Whipping, Porch
Encore 2:
Indifference

News: Superbowl, Surfing & Shows
Sports Illustrated decided to gauge Jeff's opinion on the outcome of this years Superbowl....
"We'll turn up the amps even louder and yield the floor to Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, whose band's recent recording of The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" may be one of the most hauntingly faithful covers in rock history. Writes the Seattle-based rhythm king: "Gotta go with the Colts. Peyton deserves it and I've been a Colts fan since my boy Jim Mora, Sr. coached there ... and I wanna see Peyton do the Super Bowl Shuffle.""

Eddie has been spotted back on the beaches of Hawaii hanging out with none other than legendary surfer Kelly Slater (who joined PJ onstage twice last year) and A-list Superstar Cameron Diaz! Check out the pics....

Finally, we seem to be getting closer to shows being announced...
Katowice - "Due to time zone differences and announcement schedules, you areright, it does not leave the Ten Club enough time for a "pre-sale." However, rest assured that when the tour is officially announced (very soon) therewill be an opportunity for fan club members to attend the Katowice show. Please be patient with us and know that we are working for you!"
Fenway - "Is it possible Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam will play at Fenway next summer? Theo Epstein didn't rule it out after Sunday's Hot Stove, Cool Music concert. "We're working on it," said the Sox GM, who's a serious fan of the Seattle rockers."

News: Love Rave Review, Rn'R Debate
The first reviews are trickling in for Love Reign O'er Me...
Pearl Jam has always taken its covers seriously, be they Victoria Williams` "Crazy Mary" or Neil Young`s "Rockin` in the Free World." But it has ratcheted up its interpretive skills for this version of "Love Reign O`er Me" by frontman Eddie Vedder`s beloved Who. Vedder`s screams are positively goose bump-inducing in what is among his most intense vocal performances ever.
A full orchestral arrangement and a long piano intro, a la the original 'Quadrophenia' album version, add heft to this gripping update, which is already garnering rock airplay. For now, the only other way to hear this potent reminder of Pearl Jam`s rock power is in the upcoming Adam Sandler film 'Reign Over Me.'
Source: http://music.monstersandcritics.com
There has been a bit of a debate about the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame process for induction, and one site had a run through of candidates who are at risk of not entering when they become eligible, and PJ was one mentioned....
Why they might make the Hall:
You can't talk about grunge without talking about Pearl Jam, and grunge is an easy genre for the stodgier voters to latch onto. Sure, it probably couldn't have happened without punk, but grunge definitely couldn't have happened without, say, The Allman Brothers. And guess who's already in the Hall?
Why they might not:
Of course, you also can't talk about grunge without talking about Nirvana, a Hall sure-thing whose truncated career let it avoid Pearl Jam's slowly diminishing artistic and commercial returns.
Odds: 3-1. Pearl Jam never sold out. It sold a lot of records. It's out there rocking right now. It's in.

1995 Vitalogy Tour Show
Attendance: 47,000
Support Acts: Otis Rush, Bad Religion
Main Set:
Release, Go, Last Exit, Spin The Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Whipping, I Got Shit, Dissident, Even Flow, Improv, Deep, Jeremy, Glorified G, Daughter/(This Boy)/(The Real Me)/(W.M.A.)/(ABitW-II), Animal, Habit, Jam/Lukin, Not for You, Little Wing (Teaser), Small Town, Immortality, Alive, Porch
Encore 1:
Everyday People (w/Brendan O' Brien), Let My Love Open The Door (w/Brendan O' Brien), Better Man, Rearviewmirror, Black, Blood
Encore 2:
Yellow Ledbetter
Show Notes: First night Monkeywrench broadcast the show through the radio. The crowd is pumped, with people crowdsurfing even during Otis Rush's set. Cool 'Tommy' riff after 'Lukin.' 'Black' lyrics are altered from "sun" to "moon" and Ed gestures to the full moon above the stadium. He jokes, "There's some fancy people in the skybox ... they're blinking to us, sending us a message up there." The crowd boos and he tells them not to get angry: "... you know life has a way of working itself out, you know? Think about this for a sec, right? These are the rich, fancy people, right? They got all the luxury, right? Looks to me, like they're the farthest ones away from the stage and they're behind a fuckin' window ... you hang in the trenches long enough, it pays off ..."
Ed destroys his black Telecaster featuring the "skateboarding is not a crime" bumpersticker, smashing it against his mic stand. Producer Brendan O'Brien joins the band on keyboard for a surprising 'Everyday People' (a Sly and the Family Stone song) and then 'Let My Love Open The Door.' First lightning and later, fireworks, filled the sky this night.
Amazing setlist and long performance with the pressure on in an intimidating venue.

The Frogs Set: I Only Play for Money (w/Ed)
Main Set:
Act of Love, Go, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Not for You, Why Go?, Jeremy (aborted), Deep, Daughter/(Improv)/(Release)/(ABitW-II), Jeremy (New), Rearviewmirror, Small Town, Lukin, Animal, Dissident, Even Flow, Black, Alive, Blood
Encore:
Star Boy, Little Wing/Maggot Brain, Betterman, Porch
Show Notes: If a show could have been any different (and better!) than the previous night, this was it. Ed surprises the audience by joining the Frogs' set for 'I Only Play for Money.' Dressed in a Beatles-type wig, sunglasses and shiny silver jacket, he is not recognizable until he begins to sing. In return, Jimmy of the Frogs accompanies Ed in the acoustic encore 'Star Boy.'
A surprising opening song, 'Act of Love,' is extremely hard and driven. Lots of long jams that really show off Mike's ability.
For the encore, Chad Smith (RHCP's drummer) joins PJ and a fascinating version of the Hendrix classic, 'Little Wing.' They jam for about eight minutes, mutating into 'Maggot Brain,' a funkadelic song from the 70s penned by Eddie Hazel. Mike's guitarwork leaves the crowd (and the rest of the band apparently) awestruck. It was later reported that Mike was hospitalized after the two Milwaukee shows due to dehydration and exhaustion.

Bootleg: 1995-07-08 Marcus Ampitheater, Milwaukee, WI
Show Info:
1995 Vitalogy Tour Show
Attendance: 24,000
Support Acts: The Frogs, Bad Religion
Main Set:
Oceans, Go, Animal, Even Flow (Song Stopped), Corduroy, Whipping, Better Man, Dissident, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Jeremy, Daughter/(Stepping Stone), Improv, State of Love and Trust, Black, Not for You, Immortality, Alive, Blood/(Improv), I Got Shit, Rearviewmirror, Yellow Ledbetter
Encore:
Forever in Blue Jeans, Porch
Show Notes: Security permitted cameras into this show. There is no pit at this venue and the seats are bolted down. The mood was tentative, given the outcome of the previous show in San Francisco. After becoming comfortable with an extremely appreciative audience, the show became unforgettable.
Long, jammy version of 'Alive.' Stone discovers a new, goofy riff to inject into the middle of 'Blood' and the band has a good laugh over it. Eddie addresses the crowd before 'Not For You' about the recent tour difficulties. He quips, "I gotta tell ya, my stomach hurts like hell right now. I think I got cryptosporidium," a reference to a cryptosporidium outbreak in the Milwaukee water system in the early 90s. (Recall he left the stage early at PJ's previous show in San Francisco due to food poisioning.)
Ed brings out a Neil Diamond impersonator and the guy's wife (local folks, Thunder and Lightning) to sing 'Forever in Blue Jeans.' Ed pulls up a chair and crosses his legs like he's just sitting in a coffee house with a few friends and sings the second verse.
Fun show with the guys showing a lot of energy.

News: Guitar Hero & DVD
Pearl Jam will feature on the new Guitar Hero video game, where players must try to play guitar to songs throughout shows to win points/bonuses. Life Wasted is the song featured. The game is to be available on PS2 and X-Box 360.
In other news, a Pro-Shot DVD from the 2003-07-06 Camden show has surfaced, and can be downloaded from www.Youkanland.com!
A Pro-shot DVD of the show the night before is also known to exist, but is not currently in circulation.

News: Polish Show Confirmed???
It would appear that we can unofficially confirm that Pearl Jam will play Poland this summer! While it is yet to be confirmed by Ten Club, the promoter, Live Nation, has listed a show at Chorzów, Stadion Śląskidate for 13th June 2007 on their website. It is an official site, listing tickets as going on sale soon - it seems to be the most concrete evidence for a 2007 show gathered so far....

In other tour news, it now appears unlikely that the band will perform at the Pinkpop Festival, after the radio station that had 'confirmed' them said the band had pulled out.
Rumors are also circulating that PJ will tour the UK with stops in Hyde Park and Earl's Court (London), as well as being touted as headliners of Bonnaroo '07 (Manchester). Stay tuned for more...

News: New Poll and Bootleg Update
Last weeks poll asked what you wanted to see PJ do in the new year - Touring had a landslide win, with Touring the South just edgeing out Touring Europe.
This week we ask (other than the obvious answer, Ed), Whose Autobiography would you most like to read?
Also, the Sacramento bootleg has been amended to contain Porch and Yellow Ledbetter.

Bootleg: 1995-06-20 Red Rocks Ampitheater, Morrison, CO
Show Info:
1995 Vitalogy Tour Show
Attendance: 9,000
Support Act: Bad Religion
Main Set:
Long Road, Jeremy (new), Ship Song, Footsteps, Falling Down, Better Man, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Animal, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Not for You, Go, State of Love and Trust, Daughter/(This Boy), Garden, I've Just Seen a Face (Ed solo), Alive, Whipping, Lukin, Rearviewmirror/Improv (Words Seem Out of Place), Elderly Woman, Blood
Encore:
Black, Porch, Immortality
Encore 2:
Indifference
Show Notes: PJ performs their first six songs seated, experiencing some of the effects of the altitude and taking a different approach from the previous night. 'Ship Song' is by Nick Cave.
They get frustrated being seated (Stone declares, "All right, "fuck the seats") and they dump the chairs as they launch into 'Last Exit.'
The 'Falling Down' tune surfaces five years later, forming the melody for the song 'Distress' on The Rockfords album. 'RVM' is interrupted to break up a fight. ("What are you guys fighting for? This is a rock and roll concert.") PJ picks up the song right where they left off.
A new, slower version of 'Jeremy' is premiered here. The impromptu 'I've Just Seen a Face,' a Beatles' tune, is sung by Ed a capella. 'This Boy' is a song by an LA band, That Dog. Ed's parting comment: "Thanks for coming up to the mountain with us."

News: The 2006 X-mas Single
From TenClub.net:
Many of you have been asking about the holiday single release...Is it out yet? When will it be released?
Well...Not yet, but the songs have been selected, so we can at least give you something to curb your appetite until it lands on your doorstep.
Artwork is waiting approval and will be posted soon, as well.
The 2006 Annual Single will include:
Side A- Love Reign O'er Me written by Pete Towshend, performed by Pearl Jam from the upcoming Sony Motion Picture Reign Over Me.
Side B- Rockin in the Free World written by Neil Young, performed by Pearl Jam, featuring Bono and The Edge from U2 from the Make Poverty History concert in Melbourne, Australia.
As to be expected in this technologically advanced society, Love Reign O'er me has found it's way to the radio airwaves already...so, the good news is you won't have to wait to hear the song. We promise we are working hard to have the Ten Club 7-inch printed, pressed and on it's way to you sometime in February.

The song 'premiered' on KISW last night was the cover of The Who's 'Love Reign O'er Me'. It sounds excellent.

News: Pearl Jam Song To Premiere Tonight
According to www.kisw.com new Pearl Jam music will be heard tonight at 9pm (PT). You can listen to the live stream over the internet.
This begs the question - What is this "new music"?
Some speculations are either something from the upcoming holiday single, or possibly the "Love Reign O'er Me" cover (which of course could end up as the holiday single), or maybe something altogether different. Tune in and you shall find out!
Can't tune in - fear not, we will report back on this 'premiere' as it breaks.

News: '07 Bootleg Releases
With X-mas and New Year over, we've had a bit of time to rest and recuperate, and now its time to start sharing again!
As always, we should start by pointing out that no officially released (basecamp) shows will ever be made available to download here, so please do not request them.
Second of all, is the issue of mp3 downloads. While for now we offer mp3 downloads of shows in addition to lossless FLACs, this is always subject to change should people not obey this simple rule:
Concert downloads in mp3 format are for your own personal use and listening pleasure, but under no circumstances are they acceptable to use in trading circumstances. If participating in a trade always download the FLAC version of the show, and use the FLAC version in your trade. All mp3 files will be tagged with a message to help enforce this. Thank you for your co-operation.
Now, onto the good news...
The Army Reserve will be resuming the download series of the 1995 USA Vitalogy Tour, of which there are a total of 22 shows, at the tail end of this week. As always each show will come with hand crafted artwork, specific to each show.
Once the 1995 US tour is completed, we will move onto the 1998 Yield tour, which had a huge majority backing in a recent Army Reserve poll. It'll take us a while, but with the Artwork almost completed, we will offer the Hawaii/Australian and both North American legs of the tour.
So enjoy the shows, and keep checking back.

News: New Year Round-Up
There have been a few murmerings in the way of PJ in the last week or so, so incase you missed them...
The Music Scene Newsletter who came up with the 3-DVD set news had this to say:
More developments on the PEARL JAM front. As reported by MusicScene late last year, the band has revealed their plans to release a 3-DVD set covering their mammoth 2006 World Tour.
We can confirm that the set will be a compilation-style format, much like their previous DVD release 'Touring Band 2000' (2000). The box set will hit stores sometime in May.
We are also excited to announce that they will return to the stage for an exclusive string of European and US shows in mid-2007!
To open their return of Europe, PEARL JAM will make their third appearance at the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands in May, followed by slots at the Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring Festivals in Germany. A
fter winding their way up through Denmark, Sweden and Poland they will be ready to rock the UK for four huge shows, concluding in London on June 21st.
We understand that a number of major venues in cities along the US East and South-East coast, including Tampa, West Palm and Atlanta, have been booked by the band. More details soon.
RockinTown reports Pearl Jam has won "Best Rock Band of the Year" and "Greatest Rock Band of All-Time" in RockinTown.com's ( www.rockintown.com ) annual poll. In addition, Pearl Jam's debut album "Ten" was named the "Best Rock Album of All-Time."
For the first time, RockinTown.com asked rock music fans to select the "Best Rock Band of the Year." To be eligible, a group had to release an album of original material between October 2005 and December 2006.
This was the most contested category in the RockinTown polling with 40,000 votes cast. Thirty-five groups were nominated. Evanescence and My Chemical Romance traded the lead before Pearl Jam took control finishing with just under 10% of the vote.
"It was Pearl Jam's hard rock verses the emo leanings of Evanescence and My Chemical Romance," said Ian Lord, RockinTown's managing editor. "Pearl Jam fans were on a mission."
PR Newswire also had good news as PJ won the Greatest Band of All-Time honor with just over 7% of 30,000 votes. In 2005, Nirvana walked away with the title nailing 33% of the vote. "Pearl Jam fans seemed to thrive, almost defiantly, on their self- perceived underdog status," said Lord.
Pearl Jam is the last major Grunge-era band left standing. Pioneering heavy metal group, Led Zeppelin, finished #2 with just under 6% of the vote. "They always land in the Top 3 but they can never quite make it to #1," said Lord. Green Day was next with 5.5% of the vote. Nirvana dropped to #6. Rounding out the Top 10 were The Beatles (#9) and Elvis Presley (#10).
"It's a credit to their artistry and staying power that they still have a place in the Top 10," said Lord.
About mid-year, Pearl Jam's "Ten" displaced Nirvana's "Nevermind" as the Greatest Rock Album and never looked back. "Ten," released just prior to Nirvana's landmark album, eventually sold more copies than "Nevermind." For the first time, AC/DC's "Black In Black" made the list landing at #3, behind "Nevermind."
And Ten Club, with touring over for a few months at least, went back to doing what they do best, posting cryptic messages on the official site, saying that "It's been a great ride - from crossing Canada, going "down under" in both hemishperes, getting reacquainted with the Old Country, going coast-to-coast here at home and of course, a couple of weeks in paradise to end it up - and now a well-deserved break for the holidays.
Some of us are shaking out the cobwebs and getting the headquarters warmed up for what we're hoping will be another great year. So aloha and mahalo to you all."
The message pit is full of explanations for this with everything from another Vault release to a song on the new Spiderman sontrack being rumored..
Finally, some news on the Deep Magazine front:
1) If you live in Europe, expect to see Deep coming through your door any day now, certainly within the next fortnight.
2) If you live in the US and haven't recieved Deep yet, theres a fair chance you've been forgotten or the Post Office have lost it, so you should probably send 10C an e-mail.
3) As a result of these delays, the Deep competition deadline has been extended by a month.
Oh, and if you are involved in the trading community, there are Vegas and Cincinnati '06 DVDs surfacing, as well as an upgraded 92 show, so keep your eyes peeled....
Happy New Year,
Big Wave Rider
PS: New bootlegs will be going up soon, keep checking back....
